Media Producer

Internship opportunities. 1 March – 10 May 2019

Diffusion 2019's theme of Sound+Vision will explore the relationship between sound, photography and lens-based media, and how the transmission, presentation and reading of images in contemporary visual culture is influenced by sound, and likewise how music is experienced visually as well as aurally. Diffusion brings new international art to Wales whilst showcasing Welsh talent, and as has been the case for the first three festivals Diffusion 2019 will draw on a significant pool of talent and contacts developed by Ffotogallery over the last decade.

As with previous editions, Diffusion 2019 will feature a month long citywide festival of exhibitions, interventions, screenings, performances, events and celebrations in both physical and virtual spaces and places. The excitement of directly participating in the festival, and the international reach and visibility of the event, is further enhanced through bilingual printed and online publications, websites, mobile content and discussion on social media platforms.

Internships and Work Experience Opportunities

Diffusion is a Ffotogallery project, and for each of the four biennial editions we have expanded our core team in the run up to the festival to provide many real work opportunities for interns, volunteers and freelancers, working with the artists we have commissioned and partnerships we have formed in Cardiff, Wales and internationally. Previous interns and volunteers have used the opportunity as a platform to launch successful careers in the arts and creative industries, or in the case of some individuals to re-engage with their passion for arts and media as part of the dynamic and creative team behind the festival.

As well as volunteering, we have a limited number of paid internships which are full-time positions, for a period of between 8-10 weeks (depending on start and finish date). They cover the preparation, installation, festival delivery and de-install phase of the project, between 1 March and 10 May 2019. Each bursary is calculated on the basis of £300 pw, so to a maximum of £3000 (for 10wks).

Media Producer

Working closely with Director, Production Coordinator and Event Producer, as well as other members of the Diffusion team, this role focuses on documentation, content creation and the production of video, slideshows and other resources to build audience engagement, and wider coverage and visibility of the festival in a national and international context.

Tasks will include:

  • Producing and editing short videos and promotional content for web and other presentations in the lead up to and during the festival
  • Working with the Director, designer and production coordinator to ensure a consistent style, quality and ‘on brand’ approach to all media content produced
  • Attending exhibitions, events and artist/partner interview opportunities in order to capture the key moments and highlights of the festival
  • Ensuring the final editing of content produced provides a comprehensive record of Diffusion 2019, and audiovisual resources that continue to engage audiences beyond the physical event in April 2019.
